Tyler Nolan
Sunshine State Tattoo owner, Tyler Nolan, has been doing what he loves since 2005. He has won multiple awards among a long running list of conventions around the world, and is internationally recognized.
Tyler specializes in neotraditional tattoos, illustrated black and gray tattoos, and geometrical tattoos. You might recognize him from SpikeTV’s Ink Masters Season 6, where he made it to the finals (finishing 5th out of 18 artists). Which consisted of thinking on the fly and being presented with extremely demanding tattoo challenges.
Upon walking into the shop, the first thing you’ll notice is the impressive art and décor. If you know Tyler, then you’ll completely understand how the shop aesthetic is a direct reflection for his love of his home state, Florida. He’s done an impeccable job bringing all mediums of art to showcase around the shop, and every time you come in, you’ll discover something new.
Sunshine State Tattoo is Tyler’s first solo-owned shop, though he has co-owned shops in the past, he is ready to call this shop home with his brother Chase by his side. Now he is able to fully put his feet on the ground being the sole owner of the shop and share his taste in art, décor, taxidermy, and most importantly – create stunning tattoos.
Tyler learned his craft from Chris Blinston, who actually competed against him on Ink Masters in 2015. Some of Chris’ realistic influence is still present in Tyler’s current work, which highlights how the long-lasting impressions of apprenticeship shape budding artists. Tyler now has his own apprentice, Sam Mizrahi, who also specializes in neotraditional tattooing.
Tyler’s affinity to animals started with the late Steve Irwin, and you can see that with the respect, education, and overall relationship he has with his animal counterparts.
